I won't describe the scariest things we saw that morning, 'cause it would depress the heck out of you. Let's just say that if these scientists had been using their brilliance for good instead of evil, cars would run off water vapor and leave fresh compost behind them; no one would be hungry; no one would be ill; all buildings would be earthquake-, bomb-, and flood-proof; and the world's entire economy would have collapsed and been replaced by one based on the value of chocolate. However, since they were evil, basically we saw stuff that would fuel the world's nightmares for the next five hundred years.

–Max about the showcasing, Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports

In Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports, Max, Nudge, Angel, Total, and Ari, while being held captive at Itexicon's headquarters in Germany, were forced to witness a showcasing of the villainous organization's genetic achievements.

History

The first mutant to be introduced was a man with a detachable arm. The arm was not prosthetic, but it was attached to him by an electronic interface similar to an iPod data port. The Director said that the replica arm was created out of biogenetic matrix and titanium cell-laced bone; because of the latter, the arm's stress resistance was increased by four hundred percent. After hearing about it, Max murmured a sarcastic remark about how, because of the experimentation, the man was guaranteed to have hassles at airports no matter where he went.

After the man, the Director introduced Mara. Max wondered if she has wings or is an Eraser when she walked out since she looked completely normal. Mara was said to have Panthera pardus (leopard) DNA grafted into her human genes; the splice caused her to acquire feline fangs, incredible leaping abilities, and leopard spots trailing down her spine.

After Mara, two people with the ability to mentally control their skin color were showcased. Nudge asked if they can turn blue or purple, but Max didn't know. At that moment, the two people turned invisible, making Max feel sick.

Next, they saw people with the ability to increase their height by a maximum of four inches at will, just by thinking about it. Max remarked that, when they mixed these experiments with the camouflaging ones, they could have the perfect bank robber.

Not much was described about the next mutants, the GatorGuys, except for the fact that they had hard, scaly, and bulletproof skin.

After the GatorGuys, a woman was showcased who could scream at pitches too high for humans to hear, but that had Total writhing around in agony. Her voice could also break glass and shatter metal.

The Director, towards the end of the showcasing, had someone open up a box of hundreds of butterflies. Simultaneously, controlled a swarm of glittery copper-colored objects—soon revealed to be autopiloted nanobullets—via a remote control. Within a few seconds, they targeted the butterflies, killing them and leaving behind only shreds of wings.

Omega—Itexicon's magnum opus—was the final mutant who was introduced.
